Still fighting that cold

I really, really wish I could take baby girl's cold myself. I'm fighting something off already, but I can deal with another bug if it leaves my daughter alone.

The pinkeye has resurfaced. The pinkeye itself hasn't make Kate particularly uncomfortable, but it makes her nose run . . . a lot. She swallows a ton of phlegm. What she doesn't swallow you can hear rattling in her throat as she breathes. Then she drinks something which goes down the wrong way and sets off a coughing fit. She coughs so hard, she vomits several times over several minutes which feel like hours. She vomits up her entire drink and dinner all over herself, the floor, the chair, you, and your mother-in-law. She vomits all the way back into the bathroom as you're filling the tub to rinse her off. She vomits in the tub. And then it ends. She picks up a toy and begins playing with it. She's back to normal. It's not fun.

It's not unusual for this to happen. When kids have been swallowing a lot of thick mucus, it can irritate their stomachs enough that they eventually vomit. Kate's trigger for this happens to be when something she's drunk goes down the wrong way. She acts as if nothing has happened afterwards, but I can't stand it. It puts me on pins and needles during her evening (and only remaining) bottle, the usual culprit. I cannot wait until this cold is so far gone it's not even a memory, however distant.

That sounds awful. I hope she recovers soon.
