Life today

This is my beautiful girl sitting for her preschool picture back in February. She looks so mature. She'll be four years old in two months. Four. And I still see her as my baby. She'll be heading for kindergarten in two years. How did that happen?

She's silly, opinionated (comes by it honestly), loyal ... she wants to have and to be a friend. She's creative. She pretends. She has an infectious laugh which inspires her friends to act goofy for her benefit.

She's a procrastinator, particularly at bedtime, although she can be asleep in 10 seconds once she finally stops talking and closes her eyes. She's particular. She's stubborn. She's a cautious observer. She's smart (what parent says otherwise?) She's quirky.

She's a daddy's girl. She's loves princesses, sparkles, and dresses. She prefers pink and purple. She'll eat the icing and leave the cake. She never met a stick or rock she didn't like. Umbrellas are awesome.

This is my life now. I am in awe watching a baby who did nothing but cry, eat, (occasionally) sleep, and ... the rest develop into a unique individual, and I have no idea how it happens.

Mind you, she's not always peaches and cream, but I never remember the rough moments at the end of the day. I'm too busy being amazed that she's here and we are lucky.
