Good bye to another coworker

I learned that one of our IT guys just died. He was 46 with a wife and children, the oldest about to enter college. It was so sudden. He went in for a kidney transplant. After recovering, I understand he came back to work. But he suffered complications from the last surgery. It must have happened quickly. He died last night.

News like this makes you think. Just 46. That's only 6 years older than I am. One minute, everything looks great; the next, your wife, family, and friends are grieving your passing. It must be especially hard on his family. He was doing well. His poor wife: she's the one who donated the kidney!

You know, to me it seems as if the bulk of deaths I've known have come in the Spring. The only one I know who died at any other time was my grandmother. My grandfather, two cowokers, a coworker of DH's, my FIL's partner's father . . . all in the Spring. I just checked: my great-grandparents died in the Spring, too. I know that's not true, of course - people die every day of the year - but there certainly seem to be clusters around here.

Oh my gosh, so sad!! And that his wife gave him her kidney....what an unfortunate outcome for something that probably seemed so hopeful. I will pray for this family.

That's heartbreaking. May God have mercy on his soul, and give comfort to his loved ones.

I totally know what you mean about the age thing. 46 is too young. It's scarey. My bil's cousin died at 40..a healthy man. WTH? I wonder if it's the stress? Just got to live each day as best as we can and leave the future to God.
