Elusive sleep

I know I've mentioned this before, but I haven't had a full night's sleep since January. No joke. Early on, it was hot flashes waking me up. Later, sore hips crept into the mix. Around 20-something weeks, it was heartburn and potty breaks. Now I'm waking up for no particular reason except that it's time to flip . . . and potty breaks. And everyone is telling me to sleep now while I can. I appreciate the well-intentioned advice - I truly do - but it doesn't help. I . . . can't . . . sleep.

I'm hoping I haven't developed some bad sleeping habits after this much time. My body has gotten into the routine of waking up every several hours. I put it down to hormones and more weight than I've ever carried in my life. What if it really has become habit? What if, after the baby is born and learns to sleep through the night, I still can't? I'll be drinking a lot of warm milk with honey and vanilla, if that's the case.

Bless you sister...I have been dealing with the same thing! LOL I never even thought about the fact that my body may get used to the wacky routine. I sure hope not! I see you are in your 37th week which means "any day now." I am so excited and can't for your perfect girl to arrive :)

Ha ha! If your like me you will have no problem getting to sleep after the baby comes. Right now I fall asleep nursing, then wake up to him rooting around. I think I'm still in my original nursing session only to find out 2 hours has passed. I fall asleep that deep and that fast! I also sleep in with the baby each day until at least 10, sometimes as late as noon. I feel like a teenager! -JC (formerly Tucked Beneath His Wing)
