MIL is here. We picked her up on Saturday. She's here to help, and she did run the sweeper on Saturday which saved me about 20 or 30 minutes for which I'm grateful, but it took a lot out of her. Her stamina isn't the greatest. As a result, she spends a good bit of time sleeping or sitting in the living room. We're getting less done overall than if she weren't here.
Poor DH. He gets the brunt of it. He's already stressed waiting for Kate's impending arrival. Now that his mom's here . . . . He works from home all day. I get to drive into work. Normally, I'd say he has the better part of the deal, but while his mom is sleeping in his work area . . . . Let's just say that with her around, his attention is being split in too many directions, and it's wearing him down. He's letting certain things slide. Exercising is one of them. Eating healthily is another. That's just what we need when expecting a new addition to the family.
It's not that MIL is the problem. It would be the same if we had any guest staying in the house at this time. Really, I wouldn't want my own mom here. When you need to get things done, guests are a distraction. They don't intend to be so, but that's what happens in the end.
Well, we'll adjust. Either that, or we'll go crazy. I prefer to try to adjust. It will be different once Kate is here. She'll help distract the various guests, perhaps allowing us some time to do things we need to do but haven't had a chance, yet. Thinking positive.
