What are my feelings now? Nervous, anticipatory, excited, befuddled, impatient, a little frightened, tired, and I'm sure there's more. I can't believe we're here. I'm ready to move beyond the next stage and into the rest of our lives as a little family plus one.
We have a nonstress test scheduled for Friday if she's still hanging out in her cozy, little home. Two appointments in one week! And from here on in, we'll have an appointment every three or four days until she decides to join us on the outsie. This is good. I don't need to wait a whole, entire week in between appointments for confirmation that our girl is doing well (see, going for positive thinking).
Some observations from the last week:
- Braxton Hicks contractions have been increasing, but they're not uncomfortable or regular.
- The baby girl is more responsive to outside stimui.
- DH is growing more paranoid by the day.
- It's difficult to convince paranoid DHs that their wives will not go into labor and drop a baby in their laps in the span the five minutes. We have time to make it to the hospital.
- Internal exams are not fun, but it's nice to confirm that things are progressing, however slowly.
- Lightning crotch is real - a lot of discomfort and an intense, sudden, presistent desire to run to the bathroom before one pees one's pants. Internal exams can evidently trigger a particulary uncomfortable episode.
