Turning a corner?

I'm almost afraid to say this, but I think the baby girl is sounding better this morning. She doesn't sound so phlegm-y. She's still coughing, but I don't think as often or as hard. Knocking on wood, crossing fingers, and holding thumbs. She hasn't been napping or sleeping well which has turned her into our miserable little bugaboo in the evening. She continually coughs herself awake. The naps are the worst. At least she'll fall back asleep during the night, but once she's up from her nap, she's up, no matter how sleepy she still is.

We're turning a corner into spring, too, I think. We had snow and sleet overnight the other night - most disappointing since the weather gurus weren't calling for it - but most of it has melted. The temperatures for the next week are in the 40s and 50s, no snow in the forecast. Sigh. No snow, no ice. Love it.

Our crocuses are blooming through the mulch. Those and the cacophony of birds singing in the trees put me in the mood for seed planting time. I'm dying to get some tomato and pepper seeds into the dirt. I'm sure we have other veggie seeds, as well, but I'll have to see what they are. I have no idea when I'll find the time to plant the seeds let alone the seedlings when they sprout, but I'm looking forward to the fresh veggies they'll give us come summer. Nothing - and I mean nothing - beats a summer tomato fresh off the vine.

Glad to hear baby girl us feeling better. I certainly cannot wait to plant some seeds myself. We have had no luck with tomatoes yet, always been eaten before then even ripen...any tips?

No tomato tips. We've never had too much of a problem with their being eaten before they ripen. There is a marigold you can plant around the tomatoes that might help. It's called Golden Guardian (http://www.parkseed.com/gardening/PD/1308). Of course, they're supposed to be good with repelling nematodes. I think marigolds in general repel rabbits. Or is it slugs?
