The current at home favorites are: Mr. Brown Can Moo, Goodnight Moon, Sneakers the Seaside Cat, More! More! More! Said the Baby, Pretzel, Biscuit's ABC's, and Dear Zoo. I have a feeling I'm missing something. Oh, and Five Little Pumpkins. I'm almost positive I'm still missing something, but these will do. I don't know what the daycare favorites are, but I'm given to understand it's a handful that she loves to hear over and over and over and over again.
Let's see, I know Goodnight Moon by heart. Sneakers, More! More! More!, Pretzel, and Mr. Brown are close behind. DH is in a fair way toward memorizing the same stories. She just loves them.
I was pretty impressed with something her daycare teacher told me the other day. It was an incident during circle time when they were singing Itsy Bitsy Spider. Kathleen got up and walked over the the book bin. She rummaged around for a bit, pulling books aside and putting them back until she found what she wanted. She brought it over to her teacher to read: Itsy Bitsy Spider. For a not-quite 17 month old, that's not bad.
I'm thrilled she's getting into books. I love reading. I picked it up from mom who picked it up from her mom. I'm glad to be passing this love on to Kathleen. When you have a good book in your hand, you can't get bored. Even the most onerous wait is made enjoyable.

I tried to post earlier but it did not take so I thought I would try again! Your post hit the spot with me as my little guy loves books too and he is almost 17 months as well! It amazes me how much they understand -- and it is so cool to hear stories about how your little girl picked up the Itsy Bitsy Book when they started to sing it! Thank you for sharing your favorite books - I have been in a book buying mode lately so I will definitely look into a few that you mentioned that we do not have!!
What are your LO's favorites? We have tons of books, but I'd like to add some others to the "favorites" list if I can, if only for variety.
I am sorry I have not responded earlier. He really likes the peekaboo books. They have noise ones with sounds that are fun. He likes the hungry catapilllar. I found some sesame street board books at Costco that he is starting to like. The curious George board books are fun. And two others are my first puppy touch & feel as well as my first words touch & feel. If I think of any others, I will let you know!
Thank you!
