Another Step Forward . . . More or Less

We got to put the "I" on the chart last night. I don't know how much good it'll do. According to my monitor and CM, I peaked yesterday, but by the time DH and I got together, I was so dry. I know CM is necessary to get his sperm from Point A to Point B (assuming Point B hasn't already disintegrated into nothingness by the time they get there). I thought about using Preseed but didn't. I should have listened myself. I know I'm usually fairly dry by the end of the peak day. Oh, well, nothing I can do about it now. No sense in obsessing over it.

How long does it take for sperm to find the egg, I wonder, especially when the sperm may be directionally challenged? I prefer to BD the day before peak to give them ample opportunity to get where they need to be. Instead, we usually end up doing it at the end of the peak day. I'm forever worrying that we're too late, and that by the time they reach the target, it's not there anymore.

Now begins the two week wait (2WW) which for me averages 11 to 12 days. Fun times, I tell you.

We'll have some nice weather this weekend to distract me from the 2WW. I am so looking forward to that. I'll take the pup - she's 6 - for as long a walk as her stubby dachshund legs will take her. Maybe we'll go down to the creek. Afterwards, I'll take Muggles, our cat, out for a bit. We have her leash trained, for which our resident squirrels and at least one bird should be eminently grateful. Then, after he's done working, I'll coax DH for a walk. We need to get in some "us" time before his mom's surgery. We won't have as much while she's with us recovering. All in all, it should be a good weekend.

I'm rambling. I need to sign off and get some work done.

It takes 5 minutes for those guys to reach the egg! Isn't that amazing! ;)

That's it? You'd think I'd have read that somewhere. I'm sure I must have it's irretrievable by now. Maybe even directionally challenged swimmers have a chance to make it to the finish line.

I just found your blog today. I'm also over 35, was married in June 2007 and TTC ever since. I know all too well being dry on peak day - good to know I'm not the only one using preseed. I'm adding you to my blog roll and my prayers. Blessings, LA

BD as a job is no fun at ALL. In some ways, it's a relief to move on from that project to assuming that it just plain won't get you pregnant without at least some form of intervention. I'm surprised they haven't put you on clomid yet! Doctors sometimes seem to have all the patience in the world with other people's lives. (And the idea of multiples sounds great to me...as if, after watching all my friends have their first...second...third...I could "win" in just one shot! I mean, win temporarily. I won't win in the long run.)

Interesting: your FSH is 8.5. Mine tested as 10.0...when I was 24. And they still think that in THEORY I could have my own children (without IVF). (I am going to look into this maca stuff, BTW.)

Living Advent, I'm glad someone else is using Preseed. I feel as if I need every advantage I can get. Thank you for letting me know. What do they say: misery loves company? I wouldn't say that I'm miserable (except on the first Monday of Daylight Savings Time), but I do enjoy the company. :)

Misfit, I heard about the maca from someone who's really into herbs and vitamins. She doesn't have any problems with fertility even in her late 30s. I'm skeptical, but I'm willing to try nearly anything once.
