I had my first hot flash yesterday after I got home. I was hooking up Sadie to take her out when I suddenly started to feel very warm, slightly faint, and a bit nauseous. I took Sades for a walk around the cul-de-sac hoping the cold air would calm the nausea. When I got back in, I could feel my face burning, and I had to run to the bathroom due to a case of diarrhea which had just developed. I did what I had to do, feeling my heart pounding the entire time, flushed, pulled up my pants, looked in the mirror . . . my face was beet red. It was enough that even DH noticed.
I didn't realize until later what it could be. After doing some research, I learned that hot flashes are caused by fluctuating hormones and that they can occur during pregnancy. I think it's no coincidence that it started about 25 minutes after my PIO injections and it just happened to be the first round of PIO after starting the progesterone suppositories. If that doesn't cause fluctuating hormones, I don't know what does.

Yikes! It wasn't a reaction, was it? Hang in there!
It so wierd to see how are bodies change to the fluctuating hormones and extra blood flow...I haven't gotten bloody noses since I was a child and now if I don't drink enough water then all of a sudden I get a bloody nose (so bizarre). Do you have any morning sickness yet? Sounds like it is coming on by what what you mentioned. We're praying for you! Just so wonderful to hear that your pregnant!!!
Xo,
Amber
I get a nosebleed usually twice a day.
And yeah, I get hot easily, too.
Hang in there...
I don't think it was an allergic reaction - I was afraid of that - but more that the PIO on top of the suppository caused a spike in progesterone which led to the hot flash. We'll see if it happens again after Monday's PIO.
Hey, whatever works, right? :) Glad everything else is going well!
Glad it wasn't a reaction...just those crazy hormones! Mine are making me cry on a dime. Olympic medal ceremonies, American Idol auditions, you name it! Abundant tears. Good luck with the heat! At least you can throw open a window and get some cold air these days!
Well, that makes sense to me. If menopause can cause hot flashes, why not pregnancy? And if lupron, why not a double dose of progesterone...
Hope you acclimate to the hormones soon.
